  • Tyreek Hill was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs and to the Miami Dolphins. This is the latest big-money, titanic move in the NFL offseason. The Pro Bowl wide receiver is traded to Miami for five draft picks. These include first- and second-round draft picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Dolphins have extended Hill’s contract for four years at $120 million, making him the highest-paid NFL receiver. This deal is more than what Davante Adams received last week from the Las Vegas Raiders, which was a five year contract at $28.5million per season. Hill was a Kansas City native who had four 1,000-yard seasons, 67 total touchdowns, and three All-Pro honors. He also won Super Bowl LIV. According to ESPN Stats & Information Hill is one in four NFL players to have attained six touchdown catches during each of his six first NFL seasons. Marvin Harrison, Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald are the others.

Miami’s new head coach Mike McDaniel has stocked up on offense around QB TuaTagovailoa (a first-round draft pick in 2020). On Tuesday, Miami signed Terron Armstead, a free-agent tackle. The Dolphins have previously signed running backs Raheem Moret and Chase Edmonds as well as receiver Cedrick Wilkinson.

The move caught the attention fans, but maybe we should have expected something based upon Hill’s tweet 11 days ago.

Reactions from all over the NFL were mixed about the move. Deon Bush, the brand-new Chiefs safety, was horrified to realize that he chose the wrong day to introduce him to Kansas City fans.
