GONZALES, La. (WAFB) – Authorities said that three people, including two juveniles were injured in a shooting at Wafflehouse in Gonzales on Saturday morning. One of the victims died.
The incident occurred at 12:30 AM at the Wafflehouse located at 2128 W. Hwy 30 close to Interstate 10 in Ascension Parish. The shooting happened in the restaurant’s parking lot.
Gonzales Police Department spokeswoman said officers found two victims in the lot with gunshot wounds.
One person was in critical condition when he was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Ascension. Willie Bridges (19 years old), Metairie was identified as the victim. Bridges succumbed to his injuries.
The other victim, identified only as a juvenile, was taken to a Baton Rouge hospital in stable condition.
During this time, another person was taken to OLOL Ascension. However, he was later transferred to a Baton Rouge hospital in critical condition. The victim was identified as a Laplace juvenile.
Police said that the incident is still under investigation. They urge the public contact Detective Rodi at 225-247-9583 or Crime Stoppers by calling 225-344-444-STOP.
Sherman Jackson, Gonzales Police Chief, stated that the shooter was still at large as of Saturday morning. Jackson said that Jackson was unsure what led to the shooting.
All of the victims were customers according to police.
