Racers Win in Thrilling Fashion over Morehead State

Murray State Women’s Soccer beat Morehead State 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Cutchin Field in Murray. Chloe Barnthouse scored a dramatic victory. fashionThe Racers won the game in the 88th minutes with a double assist from Morgan Bodker & Rebecca Kubin.
 
A strong defensive backline of Camille Barber (Audrey Henry, Saraya Youth, and Izzy Heckman prevented only five shots from the Eagles. Jenna Villacres saved the Racers’ four goals from Morehead State by saving them all.
 
“That back four is the back four that went 9-1 in the spring, so we know they play well together, and they are well rehearsed in what they do.”Coach Matt Lodge said: “I thought Jenna held everything clean and we didn’t really look like we were going to concede.”
 
Barnthouse scored her fourth goal of the season, tying Lauren Payne at top of Racer goalscoring for the season. Bodker received her fifth assist of the season, while Kubin picked up her third assist of the year.
 
This is the Racers’ second shutout this season, and the first at Cutchin Field.
 
Murray State won the match and gained some momentum. They will face SIUE on Oct 14th in a match between OVC Preseason first and second picks.
