Maui’s fifth medical cannabis retail dispensary set to open

The Hawai‘i State Department of Health issued a formal notice that authorizes Pono Life Sciences, LLC dba Pono Life Maui to open its second medical cannabis retail dispensary on Maui.
The new dispensary can be found at 115 N. Market Street, Wailuku. Sales are expected to start on May 28. The formal notice was published today after Pono Life Maui had passed its final on-site inspection.
This will be Maui’s fifth retail dispensary and the 20th retail dispensary for the state.
As of April 30, 2022, there were 34.047 in-state residents and 2,765 caregivers registered statewide. This included 6,480 patients on Maui and 581 caregivers.
Severe pain is the most common reported condition in adult patients. Seizures and post-traumatic stress disorders are the most common conditions reported for patients younger than 18.

Registered patients and their caregivers can purchase up to four ounces of medicinal cannabis in a 15-consecutive-day period. They may also purchase a maximum eight ounces within a 30-consecutive-day period. Medical cannabis must be kept in a sealed container so that it is not visible to the public when it is brought home from a dispensary.
Medical cannabis cannot be used in any moving vehicle or on public property. It is illegal to possess or use medical cannabis on federally-owned property, such as military installations or national parks.
