Is a New Weed Dispensary Replacing the NJ Marlton Diner?

This is a bittersweet sight for someone who grew to love South Jersey’s diner.

The Marlton Diner, located  at 781 Rte 70 W, in Evesham Township NJ, permanently closed its doors a few months ago. The diner opened as a Denny’s in the 80’s. According to the A View From Evesham’s Facebook PageEnlighten Health & Wellness issued a press release outlining the process in acquiring this space.

Although it may not seem like much, this is a sign that there is more likelihood of a cannabis dispensary being opened. Vishal Patel, an Enlighten’s owner, has been responsible for the creation of Nature’s Medicine, a Pennsylvania-based dispensary. The Ayr WellnessThree dispensaries are located in State College and Selinsgrove PA.

According to the post, Enlighten also submitted a request to the State of New Jersey to obtain a retail cannabis license.

These plans would make great use of the space that was once home to the Marlton Diner. I’ve enjoyed many pancakes here and it would be a relief to see the space receive more foot traffic. It would be shameful to see it sitting there with shuttered windows like so many other New Jersey diners.

Would you be thrilled to see another weed dispensary open here? If not, what do think should happen to this space? Leave your comments!
