It’s been only a few months since Apple launched the iPhone 13 and leaks about Apple’s next iPhone are already appearing on the internet. Apple might call its 2022 smartphone the iPhone 14 if it follows the same nomenclature as the iPhone 13. Apple’s iPhone 13 was released on September 14, 2021. The iPhone 14 release date could follow a similar pattern.
According to LeaksApplePro, Apple may add a USB Type C port to its iPhone 14. This will be a huge win for tech enthusiasts and reviewers around the globe, who have long wished for a Type C port for the iPhone. Apple’s new iPhones have a Lightning Port, but the Type-C port will make them more compatible with other devices. Type-C cables are also readily available on the market.
Type-C ports are 10 times faster than Lightning Ports for Apple iPhones
Apple might make a strategic move to adapt Type-C for many reasons. The data transfer speeds at the Lighting Ports are only 480Mbps, for instance. Although it may surprise iPhone users, Type C ports are more than 10x faster than Lightning Ports and can transfer data at speeds of up to five gigabits. Apple’s latest devices also support ProRes video format which is very heavy. Creators will find it easier to transfer footage from iPhones to MacBooks or laptops via Type-C ports.
A report by Forbes says that Apple might adopt the Type-C port due to increasing legal pressure by authorities on phone makers to use the Type-C port. Apple may avoid fighting for its Lightning Port, as it might suffer severe brand damage. It is important that Apple has been using Lightning Port since ages. Apple has already made other products compatible with USB-C based charging or data transfer.
