After a sloppy win over Carolina Panthers, the Philadelphia Eagles will be back in the thick of the action on Thursday when they take on the reigning Super Bowl Champions. They will be doing this without Dallas Goedert.
According to an official announcement by the team, the SDSU product was placed on the COVID Reserve List today. This now makes yesterday’s decision to bring in former Eagles TE Noah Togiai that much more understandable.
Goedert was listed on yesterday’s injury report as absent with an illness. He’s coming off of a game where he had a pair of catches for 28 yards in 45 offensive snaps.
It’s been a quiet start to the season for Dallas Goedert, but prior to Sunday’s win, he had started to find his form. With 50+ yards in both of the games before that win over Carolina, the 6’5 tight end has 216 Yards and a pair of touchowns on the season.
Losing him is a pretty big blow, but it’s not as if the Eagles are predicating their offense around tight end receiving production anymore. Instead, they have a lot of 11-personnel. They want their big bodies to play in the run game. UDFA Jack Stoll, a UDFA, is still on the active roster. He will likely take over for Goedert while Togiai will be an emergency depth option.
