Eagles claim CB Mac McCain off waivers, bring him back to Philly

The Eagles reclaimed Mac McCain III from waivers and brought the young cornerback to Philadelphia.

McCain, 23, has been pingponging back-and-forth between Philly & Denver this season.

As McCain again joins the Eagles’ 53-man roster, he fills the spot created when the team put linebacker Davion Taylor (knee) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday morning.

McCain started his NFL career in the UDFA position at North Carolina A&T. He signed with the Broncos this spring. He spent his entire offseason, training camp, and the rest of the season in Denver. However, the Eagles signed him off their practice squad in September.

He was only active in one Eagles game, but he played 13 special teams snaps against Cowboys on September 27.

McCain was the odd man in when the Eagles needed Jordan Howard to fill a roster spot. He was waived by the Eagles on Nov. 9, in hopes of being added to their practice squad. But he was claimed … by the Broncos.

The Eagles now have eight corners on their 53 man roster with McCain back, including five 23-year-olds.

McCain was back in Denver ever after, but was waived Tuesday by the Broncos and was again claimed on Tuesday by the Eagles.

Here’s his NFL transaction history:

5/14/21 – Signed by Broncos to be an undrafted agent

8/31/21 – Broncos release at the final cuts

9/7/21 – Signed by Eagles to 53 man roster

11/9/21 – Waived by Eagles

11/10/21 – Claimed by Broncos

11/23/21: Waived By Broncos

11/24/21 – Claimed by Eagles
