Casanova’s Butchery, which bills itself as “a meat and cheese boutique,”Rockbrook Village: 10914 Elm St.

Andrew Miller, the shop’s owner, stated that there are many meats and poultry available, including pastrami, French Ham, and two types turkey breasts. All meats are two-thirds choice or higher.

He also mentioned that it has a complete charcuterie counter, which includes figs and dates as well as small quantities of fruits and local, national, or international cheese. “including some whose names I can’t even pronounce.”

There are also random items like pestos, hummus, and sun-dried tomato, as well as a selection spirits that can be paired with any purchase.

Miller worked as a meat cutter at Wohlner’s Grocery as well as the Broadmoor Market and Wild Oats Market, both now closed. Miller worked in another field for 15 years before the pandemic forced him to return to his former profession.

He stated that he enjoys serving the public. “I love people,”He said, “and I never didn’t enjoy myself cutting meat.”

He also stated that he and his wife have three young children. “and we wanted to build something for them.”

Store hours are from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 9 am to 3 pm on Sunday.

El Churro Spot is opened by midtown Omaha food truck owners

A popular Omaha Mexican food truck has opened a brick and mortar location.

El Churro Spot is at 1319 S. 50th St., next to O’Leaver’s Pub. The Churro Truck Omaha has been in operation by the owners for several years. It is usually parked at 72nd and Farnam Streets.

The menu includes some of the favorites from the truck, as well sweet potato vegetarian tacos (fish tacos) and homemade sopes (fried masa with savory toppings).

The restaurant will now be open from Monday to Saturday at 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., and on Sundays at noon.

Lansky’s Pizza in Bellevue closes for good today

Today is the last day for business. Lansky’s Pizza, Pasta & Philly SteaksBellevue

The restaurant has been in Bellevue 18 years.

Other nearby locations are open at 4601 S. 50th St. In Omaha, in Council Bluffs or Gretna. These outlets will honor gift certificates purchased at the restaurant that is closed.

Lansky’s Loot rewards accounts will remain active at the remaining restaurants, where reward certificates will be honored.

Bellevue party room reservation holders will be contacted by restaurant personnel. If there are still rooms available, they will be able schedule a reschedule at Omaha and Gretna.

Seafood restaurant opens Mondays

Pacific Eating House, 1130 Sterling Ridge Drive will now be open on Mondays

The restaurant serves wild-caught seafood as well as other Pacific Rim dishes like Honolulu ahi and Seattle clam chowder. There is also a large selection of Pacific coast wines.

Hours are Monday through Saturday 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m., with happy hour from 2 – 5 p.m. on each day. It’s closed on Sunday.

Capri Italian restaurant opens in west Omaha

A new Italian restaurant opened recently at 17320 West Center Road.

There are many options on the menu, including a caprese appetizer and seafood pasta, chicken piccata and short ribs braised with red wine and arancini.

Capri owner Brett Clure is also part-owner of four Tanner’s locations in Omaha, Lincoln and Wisconsin and four Tavern 180 outlets in Omaha and elsewhere in the Midwest.

And he’s preparing to open two new Julio’s restaurants, one near 192nd and Q Streets and the other in the former Jack & Mary’s location near 114th Street and West Dodge Road.

He purchased the rights to the Omaha Mexican restaurant’s name when it closed its last location at 123rd and West Center Road in 2020.

He hopes the far west Julio’s will open by the middle of 2022. Both locations are currently being renovated.
