The state’s first outpatient breastmilk dispensary is now open.

The facility began collecting donations of breast milk in a 500 oz freezer, but soon milk drop-offs were averaging 400–500 oz—some even 900 oz.

Staff at the facility says they became so overwhelmed by donations that their team had to buy a larger freezer.

They say breast milk is now closer to those who require it.

ProHealth Physician staff say that most breast milk dispensaries can only be found in hospitals or in specialty units like NICUs.
