According to Portuguese reports, former Benfica head coach Rui Vitória is close to joining Al Ahly as a replacement for Pitso Mosimane.
After two successful years, Mosimane has resigned as Al Ahly’s head coach.
He led the team to great success and people began to speculate about possible candidates for the job.
One of these candidates is former Benfica and Spartak Moscow head coach Rui Vitória, as per news outlet Record.
Vitória’s last coaching job was with Russian giants Spartak Moscow as he parted ways with the team after only 26 games in charge.
He was a leader of a number renowned clubs before that, including Liga Portugal side SL Benfica, where he won five major trophies, including two league titles.
The Portuguese head coach was also a former employee of the middle east. He led Al Nassr, a Saudi outfit, between January 2019 – December 2020.
The 51-year-old was crowned Saudi Professional League champion during his stay and the winner of the Saudi Super Cup.
