Troyes, 13th in Ligue 1 would see Erick Mombaerts, his mentor and former City coach, reunited with him.

Kisnorbo, 41 years old, would be the first Australian coach in one Europe’s top five men’s leagues. He joins Peter Cklamovski and Kevin Muscat in leading overseas clubs.

City is currently at the top of the ALM, with five wins and one draw. They have scored 14 goals in their first six games.

City will need to find a new head coach. However, the League breaking for the World Cup has made the situation a bit easier.

City won’t be in action until December 10, when they face Sydney FC.

Kisnorbo won the ALM premiership-championship double in his first season after succeeding Mombaerts in 2020-21 and also claimed the premiers plate in 2022-23.

He also coached City in 2018 to win the A-League Women title.

Kisnorbo was a former player for Leicester City and Leeds United. He has long had ambitions to coach in Europe.

AAP told him that he hoped to succeed in the ALM in 2020 and be able follow other Australian coaches overseas.

“We’re in a league (where) it’s great to have a lot of Australian coaches to develop,”Kisnorbo said.

“You see the pathway of obviously (Tony) Popovic and Musky (Kevin Muscat) and you want to be part of that.”

AAP reached out to Melbourne City for comment.
