9 Best Psych Episodes to Watch Before Psych 3: This is Gus

Psych ended its run in 2014, but that hasn’t stopped its popularity. It has gained a greater cult following. The Movie PsychePremiered in 2017, followed by Psych 2: Lassie Come Home2020. This November Psych 3 – This is Gus Peacock will be the premiere.

Psych is a show that can be rewatched many times. There are plot arcs that run through the show, but there are plenty of episodes that can be watched on their own if you need something to fall asleep too. “One Maybe Two Ways Out”(Season 5, Ep 9)


Shawn is contacted by a spy to help her after she is framed for murder. This episode includes spying, undercover agents, and secret identities. But most importantly, it has Jules discovering Shawn’s true feelings for her. And after waiting five and a half seasons, viewers finally got to see Juliet and Shawn’s first kiss.

“High Top Fade Out”(Season 4 and Ep 7)


Members of Gus’ college acapella group reach out to Shawn for assistance in solving the murder of their fallen friend. Gus is not happy with the group. Shawn is all too happy and eager to help, given his obsession with acapella. Not only did they get high-profile guest stars, but Boyz II MenThe theme song is performed acapella. This is also Woody’s first appearance.Kurt Fuller), the coroner, who later will become a recurring (and fan favorite) character.

“1967 A Psych Odyssey”(Season 8, Ep. 6).


Detective Lassiter would like to be Santa Barbara’s Chief of Police. After making a terrible impression in his interview, he forms a plan to solve a decades-old crime involving the Mayor’s uncle. The flashback to 1967 is then shown as the series’ regulars play new roles in a mystery involving a murder victim from the past. And any episode featuring Dulé Hill singing or dancing is well worth your time.

“Last Night Gus”(Season 6 and Ep 2)


A HangoverShawn, Gus and Woody, Lassiter and Henry wake up without any recollection of the night before. They piece by piece try to figure out what happened, and they succeed in escaping a murder. This episode has the best comedy timing and chemistry of all the episodes.

The Yin/Yang Trilogy


“An Evening With Mr. Yang”(Season 3 & Ep 16)? “Mr. Yin Presents”(Season 4 & Ep 16)?, “Yang 3: In 2D”(Season 5, Ep 16).

The mysterious Mr. Yang is obsessed over Shawn and threatens his family and friends. Just when it seems everything is in order, Mr. Yin appears.

Although it is cheating as there are multiple episodes, the Seasons 3, 4 and 5 finales are a three-part crime thriller. Although Psych is primarily a comedy series, these three episodes contain some real jump scares and mind games that will keep the viewer awake and alert.

The end of a TV show’s run is often indicated by musical episodes. It’s been done so many times that it may elicit a groan. It’s not just a good idea. “Psych: The Musical”Part 4 to the Yin/Yang trilogy is a surprise. It really works, both musically and plot-wise. The plot follows the escape of a mentally ill playwright from the local hospital in order to sabotage his new play at Santa Barbara theatre. Gus sings the ending credits scene “Jamaican Inspector Man”The perfect encore for the episode.

Cult-Favorites: A Homage


Another cheat, but it’s hard to mention one without the other. If there is one thing Psych never shies away from, it’s their fascination with pop culture. They adapted characters from the source material for these episodes to recreate the roles of the originals.

“Dual Spires”(Season 5, Ep 12).– A loving tribute the classic, but short-lived show. Twin PeaksShawn and Gus discover themselves in a suburban town while trying to solve the murder. Julee Cruise, Twin Peaks’ singer, even covers the theme song. Easter eggs are available for fans of the original series.

This episode is a great time for film fans and is dedicated to the late, great Shawn. Madeline Kahn, one of many stars in the original movie.

The Despereaux Saga


“Extradition: British Columbia”(Season 4: Ep 1)? “Extradition II: The Actual Extradition Part”(Season 5 & Ep 10)? “Indiana Shawn and the Temple of the Kinda Crappy, Rusty, Old Dagger”(Season 6 and Ep 10)?, “Lock, Stock, Some Smoking Barrels and Burton Guster’s Goblet of Fire”(Season 8; Ep 1).

Four episodes disguised as feature-length films are the biggest of all. But since Pierre Despereaux (Cary ElwesWhile Elwes is the most recurring character, all four of them are great and worth watching. Elwes is a master of charm and smarm, and Shawn, Gus, and Gus never know if he is alive or dead, trustworthy or just a conman. We don’t know either. That is magic.

“American Duos”(Season 2 and Ep 1)


Season 2’s premiere is the best episode. It covers everything you need to know. It is funny, it has a great mystery, and the guest stars are as good or better than you can imagine. The finale will make any Psych fan a lifelong Psychiast. This episode features Shawn and Gus at the best, and Nigel St. Nigel delivers a series of hilarious one-liners. This episode has Gus and Shawn infiltrate a singing competition to find out who is trying to kill the brutally honest judge’s life.
