5 new restaurants that opened in September in Mississauga

Mississauga’s restaurant entrepreneurs were busy in September, with more than 10 restaurants opening in the city.

There are many options for a wide variety of cuisines, from Mediterranean fusion to Spanish breakfast, with so many new venues opening.

Residents are encouraged to explore new areas in the city like Cafe Panchita, Calle Cuisine Mediterranean Fusion, and Seau de Crabe.

Cafe Panchita 

Café Panchita is located at 152 Lakeshore Rd. E., and specializes in Spanish breakfast.

It offers all-day brunch, a robust espresso drink menu, a variety if salads, as well as a full artisanal bake shop. The bakery offers pastries, brioche, and specialty breads, such as sourdough.

Café Panchita may be new, but it comes from a well-known face in Mississauga. It’s owned and operated by Chef Humberto Sanchez, who is already acclaimed for running the Catalina Bar.


Calle Cuisine Mediterranean Fusion

Calle Cuisine Mediterranean Fusion is located at 6277 Mississauga Rd. Offers Halal dishes inspired by the cuisine of Egypt, Spain Spain, Greece, Morocco, Portugal, Spain and more

You will find homemade bread and pitas as well as tapas-style Mediterranean cuisine.

You can find hearty sandwiches made with fillings like Romesco chicken, kofta and sausages as well as vegetarian crispy fava beans patties. You can also order peri-peri chicken, hummus starters or seafood dishes.

The restaurant has artistic Mediterranean backdrops and is open for dining. However, a drive-thru service will be available for quick, convenient Halal and Mediterranean food options.


Seau de Crabe

Seau de Crabe, a Quebec seafood boiling restaurant, opened its first Ontario location at 670 Eglinton Ave.W.

A seafood boil is a memorable experience. It typically includes shellfish and fish, as well as vegetables such corn, cooked in a seasoned broth.

Seau de Crabe allows patrons to choose their own menu “bucket” — there is lobster tail, shrimp, snow crab and mussels. Seau de Crabe translates to crab bucket. There are two sauce options – original or cajun.

You can choose your side dishes, such as rice, corn on the cob, or potatoes. The food is delivered in a plastic bag.


Yum’s Kitchen

Yum’s Kitchen is located inside of the Deer Run Shopping Plaza at 4040 Creditview Rd., unit number 21. They offer delicious desserts, drinks, and traditional Vietnamese Banh Mi.

Some unique menu items served by Yum’s Kitchen are the tapioca cendol coconut dessert, iced Nutella smoothie, five spice pork belly banh mi, and shrimp mango salad.


Shawerma Plus

Shawerma Plus hails from Waterloo. They offer quick service restaurants, including chicken and beef Shawarma wraps.

Falafel, lamb kebob, and shish tawook chicken wraps are all available. Shawarma plates are available with hummus and salads.

Speciality plate at the restaurant called “Micho Nachos”This combination of chicken shawarma and fried pita chips is topped with tabbouleh garlic mayo, tahini, and tops it off with fried pita chips.

Founders Asem Ghabra (award-winning chef) and Baraat Khudeir first opened in 2012 in Waterloo, and won reader’s choice, Trip Advisor and other awards in Kitchener-Waterloo.

They have since expanded their Waterloo location and plan to open new locations throughout Ontario, including London and Kirkland Lake.
